You first need to register and create an account. You will only have to register once on our site to have access to all the services.

This is a 2 steps process:

1. Once you submit your registration , an automatic email is immediately sent to the email address entered during the registration.

2. Go to your mailbox and click on the link included in the body of the message. Your email will be validated on our site and you will be able to login right away.

Once you are registered and your account is validated, just login and you will be directed to your personal account area. This area will allow you to :

• Maintain your Account (contacts & billing information)
  
• Maintain your Current Ads
  
• Purchase an Ad
• Renew an Ad
• Upload Images / Videos
  
• View your Order History and print the invoices
• View Detailed Traffic Statistics for your ads
• Read and answer to the Requests received
  

* Note: To insure the privacy of our sellers, we implemented two safeguards:

When you fill out your contacts in the personnal account area, you will have the possibility to show directly on the ad the following contacts :

• email address
• web site
  
• phone
• fax
• cell phone

Each of this contact will have a tick box and you will be able to choose the preferred method of contact to be shown on your ads. If all contacts methods are disabled, the blind private messaging system will be used.

ie, if you want only to be contacted by email, our blind messaging system will be used. The requests received from potential buyers will be stored in your private messaging inbox. An alert will be sent to the email you registered for your account. 

Each request will include the buyer contact information.

At that time, you will have the choice to give your contact information if you choose to the user doing the request.

 

 

How do I place an ad on Sailboat-Direct.com?

Classified Ad - 1 Month

The information you enter during the registration will be used to create your internet ad.

We chose to give to our users an easy 3 steps process to follow.

Step 1 : Register for an account on our site. We will verify your email address through a link. It is necessary in order to have on file a valid email address. We need to make sure you will receive all the requests from the potential buyers.

Step 2: Select the ad package adapted to your needs and follow the checkout process until the order is placed.

Step 3: once the payment is confirmed (immediately after the online payment is processed, or once we receive the check or money order if you prefer to use this payment method)

When you login to your account, You will see in the left column a Menu called Member Menu The "Maintain Ad" will be accessible in order for you to enter detailed information about the boat you want to sell, upload images, videos...

You will be given the opportunity to review and modify you information during the checkout process. Items marked with an asterisk (*) are required fields.

How do I upload images for my Ad?

To load a photo onto our site, the first step is to prepare it using the photo editor that comes with your digital camera or scanner.

Edit out unneccessary background and size the image so that it is no more than 900 KB (kilobytes).

Then, under the File menu on the editor, click Save As. Name the image and, using the drop-down box just under the name, save the file as either a PNG, JPEG, JPG or GIF file.

Note: Our database will only accept files saved in the PNG, JPEG, JPG or GIF formats.

Simply renaming an image and changing the extension on the file name does not convert the image to the proper format. You must use a Save As feature on your photo editor to properly convert the image.

If you don't have a scanner or digital camera, you can get standard snapshots scanned for you at most photo developing centers, copy centers and business supply shops. Have the company save the file as a PNG, JPEG, JPG or GIF.

The Place an Ad maintenace screen will walk you through loading the photo along with your ad.

Based on the Ad package choosen, you will be able to upload a defined number of images. An image gallery will be dynamically generated for your ad. You will be able to put if needed a title and description for each image.

Our powerful gallery allows you to crop, edit , resize images.
